Interlaken – Part 5/5

Interlaken OST, a hub for travellers both by train and bus
Interlaken Ost

It was 8.30pm when the sun set! We wanted to witness sunset at Harder Kulm and we did (weather wasn’t the best though). But it almost cost us a walk back from Interlaken to Wilderswil in pitch darkness with no soul in sight!

Once we descended from Harder Kulm we went in to the Coop store to grab some eatables and wine, which in hindsight was a good decision since the VOI store at Wilderswil closes much sooner.

Next, did what any other ‘sensible’ tourist would do, we wandered, aimlessly!

When we reached the bus stop at around 9.30pm, to our horror we realized that the last bus had already left!

Now, Interlaken to Wilderswil is roughly 3 kms and the route is plain wilderness in pitch darkness. With panic setting in, we googled, asked around and finally learnt that another bus leaves in 15 minutes but from a bus stop that is almost 1 km further inside Interlaken.

We quickly decided that we will not wait for the train(if any) and with all the groceries from Coop Supermarket we made a run for the new bus stop. At night! In the middle of Interlaken!

It was pure panic back then but it seems like a fun memory now. We barely made it, for, before we could catch our breath at this new bus-stop (we cannot recollect the name of) our bus had arrived! We jumped in, took our seats, closed our eyes in relief, got down at Wilderswil 15 mins later. Thank you Google Maps, you saved us!
