If there ever has been an architectural representation of an iceberg then The Louvre Museum fits the bill.

Most of us know the Louvre because of Mona Lisa and we recognize the Louvre by the picture above. But below the glass pyramid is the biggest museum in the world! If you even spend 30 secs on each piece of art you will need a 100 days to watch it all, and that is 100 full days.

The most famous attractions is ofcourse the Mona Lisa a 21*30 inch painting (yes, it is small) by Leonardo da Vinci, which has its own body guards, security surveillance, et al. However there are many other beautiful paintings, sculptures and artifacts that are arguably more interesting.

There are interesting stories about the Louvre and the beautiful Tulieries garden near it as well, like that of the Belphegor and the Red man of Tulieries. Although we were disappointed having not encountered either, do say hi on our behalf if you get to meet them.

On your visit to Paris atleast give a day to the Louvre, and if you love museums you can also visit Orsay or Pompidou on Day 2.
