The variety and range of Champs Elysées is only matched by the metro in Paris! Why? Because the metro lines are so very unique at every place. From distinct architecture, entry and exit methods to different rules and different platforms and trains itself!
For a newbie to the city it is a bit of a challenge to navigate from one point to another which if highlighted to a local will only be replied with a smirk.
Mostly underground the Paris metro is very famous for the amazing connectivity. It is the easiest and fastest way to go from one point to other in Paris (and beyond to an extent).
We used the city mapper app to for our travels using the metro. Also the Navigo Decouverte card we mentioned earlier works like a charm, so have these two handy when you are using the Paris metro.
While moving about with luggage on the metro may offer a challenge because of very few elevators, there’s always a good samaritan to help you out. Basic French knowledge helps!
What we enjoyed besides the effectiveness of the metro are the scores of musicians playing great music at these metro stations. You are almost taken aback by how good some of them are.
Did you know to play (busk) at the Paris Metro you have to go through an official audition?!! And only after being selected by the Paris Transport Authority, the RATP, can you play at the metro.
Although they play for free, you can show your appreciation by paying whatever you like, which we encourage.
