At times during our travel, we come across places and people we wish we had more time to explore, not knowing what can it lead us to and always wondering did we miss something?

They are not on our immediate agenda or our itinerary, often a mere fling before we get to our destination and very often ignored. This describes what Marseille is for us currently. We stumbled into it, barely introduced ourselves to the 2nd largest city in France.

It did not appear as the most beautiful of places in the first go, but as our wait at Gare de Marseille Saint Charles extended, we explored all that we could in the time that we had, which to put it bluntly was enough to explore the train station

We managed to take a sneak peak into The Road Untravelled and we could see at a distance Notre Dame de la Garde or more affectionately ‘la bonne mere’ or ‘the good mother’ rising above the city skyline. We wanted to walk down that road, try out the Bouillabaisse, pastaga de Ricard and experience l’heure de l’àpero or checkout ‘OM’ (in that order) but we couldn’t this time. But before we pulled away, we promised ourselves that this is definitely not Adieu but À la prochaine!
