The more famous and recognisable pictures of Nice are from atop Castle Hill overlooking the Promenade de Anglais. But we personally liked the view on the Old port side more 😍

Castle Hill had been a citadel that has history that dates back to 4th century BC(refer plaque for details) and is the numero uno tourist spot in Nice. One can get to the observation deck, waterfall and the garden at the top by stairs or avail the services of an elevator that is open till 6.30pm(run down but working). We recommend taking the stairs which is ardousπŸšΆβ€β™‚οΈbut it helps build an appetite for dinner πŸ•

Once at the top, after paying homage to traditional touristy shenanigans we just relaxed in the garden and enjoyed a small picnic listening to birds squirrels playing around. For an hour, all we did was lay back and witness one of the most relaxing sunsets that we have experienced! 🌞

There are many other things you can do at Castle Hill, one of which is visit the historic Jewish and Christian cemeteries which boasts of famous people including Emil Jellinek, the creator of Mercedes (named after his daughter – yes, pun intended 😝)
