Historic events mentioned in previous posts, are the ones that hold significance for us even today. However, back then, every action by the royalty, especially the King, was an event and a ceremony!
From the King/Queen waking up, eating meals, putting on hunting shoes or even going to the toilet.
Each of these events were mini ceremonies, waited upon by an eager palace crowd. People would gather to watch the King eat his meals, ministers and nobelmen would wait in the antechambers for the Sun King to wake up or go to sleep, for them these moments offered opportunities to celebrate and also make themselves heard.
We get irritated if someone clicks our photo, while we have our meals. Imagine having hordes of people come to see you eat every meal everyday!!! We cannot get ourselves to like the idea, for anything on offer, can you?
