Farrokh Bulsara or Freddie Mercury is mentioned in the same breath as Montreux.
The legendary musician who made his way across Tanzania-India-Britain, lived for quite a while in Montreux. His own words “If you want peace of mind, come to Montreux”, still hold true!
People across the world celebrate him but in Montreux it is special. In early September, Freddie Mercury Memorial Day celebrated each year. Not just that, there is a museum and a statue of Freddie that is 10 feet tall, with Freddie in one of his trademark poses overlooking Lake Geneva.
We could not visit either during our trip for the lack of time, but on our next trip to Montreux we will definitely visit both, for Freddie beckons!
